When you think of BUGERA amps the violin is probably not the first instrument that comes to mind. That may all change when you check out BUGERA artist Bridgid Bibbens and her hot pink seven-string fretted Viper violin. Bridgid rocks out on the BUGERA 6262-212, V55, and V22 amps. The MUSIC Group Hits Big at BMF Music Lounge Lollapalooza 2010

During Lollapalooza 2010 weekend in Chicago August 5-9, BUGERA generated some major buzz with some of the festival’s top performing artists! At a special VIP music lounge held in the Hard Rock Hotel by BMF Media Group, The MUSIC Group set up post for 3 days with both the BUGERA and BEHRINGER brands, attracting lots of attention as one of the event’s primary music gear sponsors. Throughout the event, Lollapalooza acts and visiting artists such as Phoenix, Hockey, The Verve Pipe, Blues Traveler, The National, Slightly Stoopid, Arcade Fire, The Constellations, Ke$ha, Cut Copy, Switchfoot, Blitzen Trapper, Company of Thieves, and many more stopped through to try out popular BUGERA boutique-style combo amps. The amps demoed include the new BC30-212—a 30-Watt, 2-channel, valve rectifier combo; the V22, with its vintage tone and ultra-modern feature set; and the best-selling 333XL-212—a high-gain, 3-channel, 120-Watt juggernaut.

While over 40 leading bands and artists requested to keep in contact with BEHRINGER and BUGERA about special gear requests, some made special arrangements right on site to incorporate the BUGERA amps into their performance kit during the festival. After checking out the V22, Grammy-winning band Phoenix, a worldwide sensation who hail from Versailles, even opted to snag one for their Official “Aftershow” performance on Sunday night at House of Blues. Similarly, Austin-based outfit Harlem chose to play their Saturday night show with a BUGERA amp after being introduced to it at the Music Lounge. Tosin Abasi is undoubtedly one of the few guitarists in modern metal that I’d classify as a musical genius. I mean, there’s lotsa dudes that can play… but not very many dudes who can really play and who have a true, fundamental, natural understanding of the instrument the way Abasi does. Abasi is like that young hitter your team calls up from the minors, the guy who possesses the raw strength to smack a home run over the wall but who also understands and appreciates the nuance of the game, can hit curveballs, and can make adjustments to wily pitcher tactics within an at-bat (hey Ike Davis!). He’s that good.

Lee Ritenour and George Benson Record With BUGERA!

Hey everyone – Dave here with a new BEHRINGER Artist update! Lee Ritenour has been working on his next CD project entitled “Six String Theory” for the past few months. This project involved a contest where amateur guitarists submitted examples of their playing; the winner gets to perform on the CD along with a host of legendary players!

Featured on this CD are Keb’ Mo’, Steve Lukather, George Benson, John Scofield, Vince Gill and many more! We were so excited to find out that not only did Lee use BUGERA amps on this record, but he had George Benson and Keb’ Mo’ play through his rig as well.

BUGERA gear used at the session included the V55 Combo and the 333XL Head with a Bugera 412 cabinet.

Brian Bromberg at Seattle’s Jazz Alley on BUGERA gear!

The BEHRINGER / BUGERA team here in Seattle was very excited to hear Brian Bromberg at a recent performance at nearby “Jazz Alley.” Brian had an amazing band in tow (Will Kennedy – Drums, Gary Meek – Sax, Dan Siegel – keys, Alec Milstein – bass) and played songs from across his entire catalog – which, by the way, is quite extensive. Brian has released 15 CDs since 1985. Jazz great Lionel Hampton credited Brian as “The greatest bass player in the world.”

At the show, Brian’s signature “lead bass” style was prominantly featured, of course. Brian plays leads on his bass, while a more traditional-style bass player holds down the lower notes. It was wonderfully bewildering to hear what sounded guitar-like melodies coming from a bass, which was tuned up an octave – and a fourth. I know. It’s confusing. Brian’s a techique innovator, as well – Brian brings his upright bass technique to the electric bass. Each time he went up high on the neck of his bass he brought his left thumb over the neck to have all 5 fingers on the fretboard. Super cool! (Upright players call this “thumb position.”) Perhaps carpal-tunnel inducing? We don’t know.

We provided Brian with a BUGERA V55 head (which is garnering some incredible amplifier reviews right now) and a 412H-BK cabinet which he used while playing his piccolo bass. Brian is real picky with his live sound equipment – and the BUGERAS performed beautifully! We’re proud to share the stage with Brian Bromberg – anytime, anywhere.

Announcing Melvin Lee Davis – New BUGERA Endorser!

Hey everybody! Dave Hooper here, Artist Relations Manager here at BEHRINGER. I have some awesome new news to announce. Legendary 7-string bassist (yes, I said 7 string) Melvin Lee Davis is a new BUGERA endorser.

For those of you who don’t know, Melvin is one of the most amazing bassists you’ll ever see or hear. Not only is Mel a funk-master, he is a great jazz player as well. Talk about versatile.

Melvin has played with The Pointer Sisters, Chaka Kahn, Lee Ritenour and, little known fact, he was a member of “Sexual Chocolate”, Eddie Murphy’s band in the movie “Coming to America.” I’m going to catch some heat for letting that slip. Love you, Melvin.

Melvin lives in the “Bassment.” What I mean by that is that he likes the “low end.” He’s known for rumbling the stage with his bass, and the BUGERA BTX3600 “Nuke” Bass amp is his weapon of choice. We look forward to working with Melvin and watch for some upcoming videos of him demonstrating the amp very soon!

Keb’ Mo’ Recorded With a Bugera V55 Amplifier on Lee Ritenour’s Upcoming CD!

We just learned that legendary Blues artist Keb’ Mo’ recorded with a BUGERA amp on Lee Ritenour’s new CD. We were excited to find out that while in the studio, Keb’ preferred the BUGERA V55 over a Fender and a Mesa Boogie! Can’t wait to hear the track! Suppose he’s been reading up on his amplifier reviews in his off-time…
